We are reaching that time of year when getting in shape for Summer is on many people’s minds.
Summer of 2021 is shaping up to be one spent outside, with friends, at a pool or lake soaking up the sun, and if we aren’t careful, it will sneak up on us before we know it.
Now, before we get started, it’s essential to understand that fitness and health are lifelong journeys. Getting in shape for Summer is much easier if you’ve prioritized fitness and nutrition throughout the entire year.
But just in case you haven’t, here is your guide for the sprint to Summer.
START 8-WEEKS OUT
We need to give our bodies time to make changes and adapt to new workout regimens and eating habits. Eight weeks works perfectly because it gives you four weeks to find your rhythm, track your progress, and make necessary adjustments for the remaining four weeks. If you see the progress you want, keep going! If you’re not, sit down to reassess and reflect on what may not be working.
HYDRATION AND NUTRITION
Eight weeks isn’t a whole lot of time in the grand scheme of things. On top of working out, you’ll need to prioritize your water intake and the food you are eating. These factors can have profound effects on our physiques and, more importantly, overall health and wellness.
Aim to drink a gallon of water a day and focus on eating lean meats, veggies, and healthy carbs at each meal.
FIND A WORKOUT BUDDY
Working out is much more enjoyable when you have friends to share the experience with! Find a friend who is as motivated as you are to get in shape this Summer and hold each other accountable. Don’t have a friend who wants to workout? Join a gym! Gyms like ours are packed with like-minded people who will motivate you to push yourself and keep coming back for more.
