As most of you know, CrossFit HQ runs the “Open” every year in which regular CrossFitters from across the world complete the same 5 workouts across 5 weeks. For the professionals, this is step one to becoming the fittest on the planet. For us, this is a way to bring the community together and have some fun.
Although the Open will still come this October, CrossFit has decided to run an at-home version to keep us active during this time. Over a three-week period, CrossFit will release three classic and accessible workouts that can be performed by participants of any ability level. Everyone who participates will have their name displayed on the community leaderboard and will be able to create smaller leaderboards among friends, family, and other members of their affiliate using leaderboard hashtags just like the regular open.
Registration will take place on games.crossfit.com/open beginning on or before Wednesday, April 1, and will remain open for the duration of the competition. The first workout will be released on Friday, April 3.
We will be dividing into 4 teams to up the ante a little bit more. Team Difiore, Team Vincent, Team Shannon and Lizz, and Team Arlene and Lizzie! Your team will be reflective of whoever your virtual coach is.
You can score points for your team in 2 ways:
- Complete the workout and log it on the games website.
- Post a picture or video of the workout on social media and tag Arsenal Strength
You guys have supported us so much throughout this process that we have decided to give back to members of our community who are struggling and in need. When you register, you will have the option to select a contribution amount ranging from $20 to $1,000 or participate at no cost. Participants can select CrossFit 1812 if they would like to make a contribution.
When the competition closes, all proceeds we gather will be given to members of our gym who have been laid off or furloughed during this tough time!
