Over the past three years, CrossFit has blown up across not only the US but across the entire world. With more and more television publicity and social media posts, the desire to be like our favorite athletes has never been higher. Most of us will never reach that high of a level; however, that does not mean that we can’t be the best version of ourselves! This is just one reason why we created the Individualized Training Programs to go alongside everyday classes.
So what is an Individualized Training Program?
The ITP’s are biased programs designed to help you eliminate any weaknesses in your Arsenal (Pun intended). All programs will take an additional 20-30 minutes to complete and can be done before or after class. All ITP’s should be followed for no fewer than six weeks to maximize results. After that, it is a good idea to reevaluate with a coach to see if it is time to start working on another weakness.
Training Schedule
The basis of our individualized training program is still our 60-minute CrossFit classes. The value and benefit of training in a group environment are not only essential for you’re physical well being, but it is crucial for your emotional and social well being as well.
ITP’s will be uploaded into SugarWod every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday just like the workout of the day. Notice that there is no additional work programmed on Thursday or Sunday. That is because with the extra volume and intensity you will be adding into your regular schedule we recommend resting on these days or making up bias work that you may have missed earlier in the week. Other good active recovery options include jogging, biking, rowing, hiking or yoga performed at a relaxed pace.
Can’t I work on weaknesses on my own?
The short answer is yes, you could, and the problem is you do not have access to month’s worth of programming that you will be performing over the next week or two. Again I want to emphasize that our 60-minute CrossFit classes are still the most important piece of becoming a better CrossFit athlete. With that being said our ITP coincides with our daily programming, meaning you will be working on complementary movements that will not hamper your performance for the days to come.
So what can I expect if I sign up for an Individualized Training Plan with daily WOD’s?
1. Develop higher capacity for work
2. Develop functional strength to complement aerobic capacity
3. Continuous growth and reduction of weaknesses
4. Establish better mechanics and technique
How do I get started?
