The question we get more than any other is can I gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. The answer? It depends.
Whether you want to gain muscle, lose fat, or do both at the same time it’s all going to come down to nutrition. What are you putting in your body? How much food are you eating? When are you eating? Are you working out today or are you taking it easy?
Our nutrition coaches have worked with hundreds of clients to help them achieve their goals and these are the three biggest mistakes people are making:
Under Eating
Most people are under the impression that to lose weight they have to starve themselves and this couldn’t be further from the truth. More often than not after sitting down with one of our nutrition coaches, we recommend that people eat more to achieve their weight loss goals. This is especially true with clients who are looking to gain lean muscle mass.
Restricting Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are vital especially when we are trying to lose weight because they are our energy source. Nearly every client we work with has at some point restricted their carbohydrate intake to the point that it’s difficult to get through the day, they feel sluggish by midafternoon, and don’t have the energy to work out.
To see longterm progress we need to be eating the correct amount of carbohydrates at the right time. How much is right for you? It all depends. That’s why our nutrition coaches customize each program around the individual.
Accountability and Knowledge
Unless you are already one of our nutrition clients chances are you don’t have anyone keeping you accountable. Not having a knowledgeable coach who can guide you through your journey is one of the biggest mistakes we see people making. When it comes to nutrition there are a million options out there and it’s difficult to decide which is the best for you. Our coaches work with you 1-on-1 to empower you with the knowledge you need and hold you accountable to make sure you reach your goals.
