What Your First Workout Actually Looks Like

Starting at a new gym usually feels more complicated than it needs to be.

Most people assume they’ll walk in and be expected to keep up, know what they’re doing, or figure things out on their own. That’s usually where the hesitation comes from.

In reality, your first workout is much simpler than you expect.

What Happens When You Walk In

When you come into class, the first thing we do is walk you through what’s on the board. We explain how the class is structured, what the focus is for the day, and what you’ll be doing.

You’re not expected to look at the workout and understand it right away. That’s our job.

From there, you’ll go through a warm-up designed to get you moving and help you get comfortable with the movements you’ll see later in the workout.

How We Approach the Workout

After the warm-up, we go over the main lift or conditioning piece for the day.

We’ll show you what each movement should look like, explain what you should be focusing on, and help you choose a weight that makes sense for where you’re at.

Nothing is set in stone.

If something feels too heavy, we adjust it. If a movement doesn’t feel right, we change it. If you need a different version of an exercise, we give you one.

The goal isn’t to force you into a workout. It’s to make the workout fit you.

How This Shows Up in Our Classes

Every class is coached from start to finish.

You’re not left trying to figure things out between sets or wondering if you’re doing something correctly. There’s guidance the entire way through.

That’s especially important for your first few workouts, when everything is still new.

Over time, you’ll start to recognize movements, understand how classes flow, and feel more comfortable with the process. But you’re never expected to have that figured out on day one.

What This Means for You

You don’t need experience to get started.

You don’t need to know the movements, understand the terminology, or have everything figured out before you walk in.

That’s what the coaching and structure are there for.

Your first workout isn’t about getting everything perfect. It’s about getting familiar with the process, understanding how things work, and starting to build from there.

That’s how we approach training, and it’s what makes getting started a lot more straightforward than most people expect.
